Best For...
Within the AAdvantage Aviator card series, this card offers decent rewards earnings but few travel perks.

Review of the AAdvantage Aviator Blue MasterCard

The AAdvantage Aviator Blue MasterCard doesn't carry as many travel perks or bonus miles as the newer AAdvantage Aviator Red World Elite MasterCard.

The Bottom Line
If you already have this card, we recommend upgrading to a newer version of the card, the AAdvantage Aviator Red World Elite MasterCard, which carries a higher annual fee ($95), but is worth the added benefits.

ASK A QUESTION

Q:  can I use my reward points for anything else besides airline travel?
asked 3 years ago

A:  The only points earned by this card are AA airline miles, and you're likely to get your most value from the points by redeeming them for airfare or upgrades. You can, however, also us AA miles for car rentals and hotel bookings, or to buy Admirals Club memberships. If you prefer not to use your miles for travel, you can also spend AA miles on magazine subscriptions, newspapers, gift cards, and Lifelock ID theft protection.

A:  The annual fee is $49. You'll have to log in to your account and view your cardmember agreement for other fee information, as Barclaycard does not publish the rates and fees for this card on their website. Q:  Can points be redeemed for cash?
asked 2 years ago

A:  In effect, no, AAdvantage miles cannot be converted into cash. It is a violation of program terms, but airline miles can be bought and sold on a secondary market -- but, be cautious if you venture down this path...

Q:  if I discontinue my Aviator Blue Mastercard, what happens to my previously accrued miles?
asked 1 years ago

A:  They will remain in your American Airlines account so long as your account is closed in good standing.
