1. Score Big Rewards with an Amazon Credit Card
If you make a lot of purchases on Amazon.com or Whole Foods, signing up for one of their Chase Visa Signature cards will earn you unlimited rewards whenever you use your card.
- The no fee Amazon.com Rewards Visa Signature Card offers 3% back on Amazon and Whole Foods purchases, 2% on restaurants, gas stations, and drugstores, and as a sign-up bonus a $50 Amazon.com Gift Card.
- The Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Signature Card is only open to Amazon Prime members ($119/year membership) and offers 5% back on Amazon and Whole Foods purchases, 2% on groceries, gas stations, and drugstores, and as a sign-up bonus a $70 Amazon.com Gift Card. 2. Finance a Purchase with an Amazon Store Card
In contrast to the Amazon credit cards, the Amazon store cards offered by Synchrony Bank can only be used on Amazon.com. But since Amazon sells just about everything, that shouldn’t be a problem! An Amazon store card (either the Amazon.com Store Card or the Amazon Prime Store Card) could save you money if you use it to finance a large purchase and pay off that purchase within the introductory 0% APR. The Amazon store card offers 0% financing on purchases $149 or more (for 6 months), $599 or more (for 12 months), and on select Amazon items for 24 months. As a sign-up bonus, you’ll also receive a $10 Amazon.com Gift Card credit on your account. Compare to other cards with 0% APR.
3. Earn Points By Purchasing Gift Cards
Many retailers sell gift cards within their stores and online. If you have a credit card that offers points for purchases made in specific bonus categories (such as groceries, drugstores, and office supply stores), check to see if that retailer sells Amazon gift cards. If they do, you can earn bonus points with your Amazon gift card purchase. You can also purchase Amazon gift cards directly through Amazon and receive 2-5% back for balance reloads.
4. Use A Credit Card with Bonus Rewards for Online Purchases
More and more cards are offering bonus categories for online purchases. For example, Barclay’s Uber Visa Card gives double points for online purchases. In addition, online purchases may show up as a rotating bonus category on cards such as Chase Freedom, which often offers quarterly bonuses on certain online purchases or on Amazon.
