Best For...

This a good general purpose travel rewards card for low everyday spending that is especially good if you make frequent bookings on hotels.com.

Review of the Capital One® VentureOne® Rewards Credit Card

With the Capital One® VentureOne® Rewards Credit Card you earn unlimited 1.25X miles on your everyday spending and if you book with hotels.com, you’ll earn a whopping 10X miles.  Plus this card offers a 20,000 bonus miles once you spend $1,000 with the first 3 months.

In addition to $0 annual fee and the huge hotels.com rewards, another virtue of this card is that the miles are flexible (not tied to any one airline).  If you spend less than $12,666 a year, this is a good card for earning flexible travel rewards.  If you spend more than that, consider the Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card, which for an annual fee of $95 (waived the first year), will earn you 2X miles and a bigger sign-up bonus (50,000 miles). 

The Bottom Line

If you’re a frequent traveler with low monthly spending habits (less than $12,666 a year), and no particular loyalty to any one airline or just want the flexibility of a general travel rewards card, this card is a good option and an even better option if you make frequent bookings on hotels.com.
