Best For...
The bonus categories for this card rotate every 3 months, giving cardmembers opportunities to increase their rewards.

Review of the Chase Freedom®

Every quarter, Chase designates a bonus categories and/or brands that will earn 5% in their Ultimate Rewards program.  To get the full benefit of this card, every quarter you have to choose the rewards categories that best fit your spending habits.  In addition, you have to be mindful that because of the $1,500 spending cap, you can only earn $75 cash back each quarter, after which the rate reverts to 1%. 




The Bottom Line
To maximize your rewards, this card is best used only when the bonus categories apply and before maxing out on the $1,500 quarterly limit. For the rest of your everyday purchases another cash back card would be simpler and earn more rewards.
