Best For...

While this is a pretty basic card in terms of rewards, this card delivers Disney magic in the form of Disney discounts, access to exclusive Disney character experiences, a sign-up bonus, and special vacation package financing.

Review of the Disney Visa Card

Although the rewards rate is ho-hum (1% in Disney Reward Dollars on all card purchases), the discounts, perks, and vacation financing are what make this card really shine for Disney fans.  Cardmembers get 10% off Disney merchandise and dining which can really add up when buying pricey Disney merchandise or and eating three times a day at a Disney park or resort.  

In terms of perks, kids will enjoy opportunities to meet their favorite Disney characters at private cardholder locations throughout the park and will take home a free 5x7 photo. 

For select vacation packages, you’ll also get 0% APR for 6 months, allowing you to pay for your vacation over time. 

As a sign-up bonus, you get a $50 Statement Credit after your first purchase in the first 3 months.  Considering this is a no annual fee card, this card is a no brainer if you’re planning on spending any money with Disney this year—whether it be locally at a Disney store or a Disney movie. But if you’re planning a big Disney resort vacation, cruise, or park visit, consider the Premier version of the card, which offers the same perks but more rewards (2X for bonus categories), air travel redemption, and a bigger sign-up bonus ($200). 

The Bottom Line

Because Disney Rewards Dollars are only redeemable toward Disney park tickets, Disney resort stays, Disney Cruises, Disney movies, dining, shopping, etc., this card only makes sense if your family includes at least one big Disney fan. If so, then this no-annual fee card delivers big on discounts, a sign-up bonus, exclusive character experiences, and vacation package financing.
